Finally got chance to test fly my Ki today.... in non too perfect conditions..
Arrived at the airfield to find the windsock horizontal blowing 19knotts..
Never the less I was determined to get some flying in....I brought a selection of aircraft with me just in case....
Got over to our flying location and tested the wind speed once again... down to 14 knotts now straight down the runway...so decided to go for it.
Tested the retracts a few times and re-filled the tank, fired her up...plenty of pull from my SC-180 FS ! and was confident that even with the wind she would have no problems penetrating.
Pointed her into Wind, 6 feet and she wanted to lift her tail...tracked very straight on two wheels and then with just a hint of up in she just lifted in a steady climb, right turn and gear up, no change in trim what so ever... into wind and hands off, needed about 5 clicks of down and three left and straight and level with hands off... she was jumping about a little with the wind but was very happy with how easy it was to fly.
One of my UC legs refused to lock up because the gear door has come adrift and was stopping it locking up but did 3 or 4 cycles no problem so I knew they would lock down.
asked my mate to take some pics but he couldn't get my camera to work so no pics of her in the air...
Tried a few fast passes with the wind turning hard into the wind, no issues.
Approach - Gear down, no trim change needed... din't try flaps in this wind she didn't need them... gentle landing, slight bounce....ground handling good.
Will wring her out a little next time now I know she flies ok..and hopefully the wind will be a bit calmer.
